Smart Home Helps Handicapped artificial intellegence

ANCHOR: A quadriplegic Argentine man lives in a ‘smart house’. The voice command house gives new independence to those who need it most. Here’s a look at the story. STORY: Sergio Ivanier is confined to a wheelchair, he only has limited use of his arms. Yet he has overcome many obstacles and now lives on his own, something many thought impossible. Ivanier was paralyzed in a boating accident when he was 18. For many years he lived with his parents. But with a combination of iron will, ingenuity and technology, Ivanier changed all that. He developed a ‘smart home’. The smart home is a comfortable single-floor home where fans, lights, air conditioning, the television, stereo, windows and even the telephone respond to voice commands. He said the idea for the house was born in a New York clinic where he called nurses by blowing into a straw. With the help of engineers, Ivanier designed a home around existing voice recognition software. He’s quick to point out that it hasn’t given him complete liberty. He still has a live-in maid and a driver that takes him to and from his job as an accountant in the family business. But from his bedroom, Ivanier is king. He says the system helps others as much as it helps him. [Sergio Ivanier, Smart Home Owner]: ” This voice recognition system helps me to be independent and I miss it if there’s a power outage. But it helps others just as much as it helps me. For the people who live with me it would be really bothersome to have to ask them to
